CMS ED Course : CMS ED full formDiploma in Community Medical Service & Essential Drugs (CMS & ED) is a specialized course aimed at providing individuals with fundamental knowledge, skills and training in community medical service and the essential drugs.It is a diploma for primary Health Care  by general allopathic medicines which are recommended by world health organization (WHO) for primary health care in rural areas.

CMS ED diploma holders are eligible to open and run their primary health care centre in rural areas after getting CMS ED registration certificate from Public Health Education Council (PHEC), New Delhi. Helpline- 9870285557

Diploma in Community Medical Service & Essential Drugs (CMS & ED) is typically designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to provide healthcare services to communities, focusing on the use of essential drugs and understanding healthcare delivery in a community-based context. It often blends practical training with theoretical knowledge to help students serve as healthcare providers in rural areas.

Module 1: Introduction to Community Health

  • Basic Principles of Community Health: Understanding the social determinants of health, health disparities, and the role of public health in improving community well-being.
  • Community Health Needs Assessment: How to assess and identify health needs within a community.

Module 2: Essential Drugs in Community Health

  • Essential Medicines List: Understanding the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Essential Medicines List, which identifies drugs that are considered essential for basic healthcare.
  • Pharmacology and Therapeutics: Basic principles of pharmacology, including the understanding of drug classes, indications, side effects, and contraindications.

Module 3: Primary Healthcare and Preventive Medicine

  • Primary Healthcare: Focus on preventative, promotive, and curative healthcare services at the community level.
  • Preventive Medicine: Emphasizing the prevention of diseases through vaccination programs, sanitation, maternal and child health, and health education.
  • Disease Prevention and Health Promotion: Identifying and addressing key public health issues such as maternal health, child nutrition, immunization, water and sanitation, and controlling communicable diseases like malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS.

Medium of Instruction : English/Hindi

CMS ED Course Syllabus : Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Preventive & Social Medicine (PSM), Practice of Medicine, Health & Hygiene, medical Jurisprudence.

Benefit of the course

After completion of CMS ED Allopathy diploma course anybody can provide primary and preventive health care services in rural areas and can use allopathic medicines recommended by World Health Organization (W.H.O) for primary health care, as per the judgment of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.

माननीय सुप्रीम कोर्ट आॅफ इंडिया के आदेशानुसार सी.एम.एस. डिप्लोमाधारक ट्रेनिंग करने के पश्चात ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (WHO) द्वारा निर्धारित एलोपैथिक दवाओं का प्रयोग करते हुए स्वास्थ्य सेवाएं कर सकते हैं।

 

General Information

The complete application form along with Self attested xerox copy of Degree / Diploma/Experience Certificate, Address proof, Aadhaar Card, four passport size photographs, and total fees in form of Demand Draft (DD) in favour of “Public Health Education Council” Payable at Delhi, should reach to Public Health Education Council within the stipulated Date or apply online.
